History
Sun City Meals on Wheels was founded in 1972 by two women who served about 10 clients.
After establishing a delivery system, it was decided the organization would be an independent entity with no connections to either government or the National Meals on Wheels organization, so that we could establish our own procedures and guidelines.

Sun City Meals on Wheels is staffed by volunteers with a contracted Office Manager to handle the administrative tasks.
The organization originally contracted with the Boswell Hospital kitchen to prepare the meals. When Banner took over Boswell Hospital in 2009, the food preparation was transferred to the Banner Rehabilitation Center.

Current Operations
As of July 2020, we have about 1011 clients and deliver about 55 meals daily.

Clients pay only the cost of their meals. A subsidy program exists to aid qualifying individuals undergoing financial difficulties.
Business and operating expenses are funded by donations from local clubs, churches, synagogues, and caring individuals.
